Sources and licensing
Information
Opening hours, closing days, admission charges and booking conditions come from each institution’s own visitor-information pages and announcements. The pages consulted are linked at the foot of every guide, together with the date they were last checked. Where a figure could not be confirmed against a second source, it is not published.
Open data
Some listings are built from Korean public open data, which is published under the Korea Open Government Licence. Where a dataset is used, its source is named on the page that uses it, as that licence requires. Public data is reproduced as published; where we have restructured or grouped it, the page says so.
The “Worth combining with” cards on institution and forest pages are our editor’s picks with a line of our own on why. The address, coordinates, hours, fees and representative photo of each place come from the Korea Tourism Organization’s TourAPI (Korean public open data, no usage restriction; source: Korea Tourism Organization). We do not reproduce the organisation’s descriptive text.
Photographs
Photographs belong to the institutions that published them. We use an image only where the publisher states an open licence — Korea Open Government Licence Type 1, CC0, or CC BY — and the licence and credit are printed next to the image. Images are referenced at the publisher’s own URL: we do not download, re-host or proxy them, so an image withdrawn at source disappears here too. Photographs from the Korea Tourism Organization (TourAPI and Photo Korea) are used only under KOGL Type 1, or Type 3 where the licence adds “no derivatives” — those are shown uncropped and never as a page’s preview image.
Our own text
The written text on this site is ours. Quoting a passage with a link back is welcome. Reproducing pages wholesale, or incorporating them into a machine-learning training dataset, is not permitted without permission — see the terms of use.
Getting something changed
If you hold rights in material used here and want it removed or credited differently, or if a licence has been misread, write to us and we will act on it. The process is described in the editorial policy.
